European users often ask us about Software Subscription. Please contact your reseller, we serve russian speaking users only.
We recommend switch to subscription because this will minimize your expenses to eComStation + this will make the manufacturer search for new users on other markets (this is good for eComStation community).
If your subscription expired - immediately contact your reseller. If reactivate it without delays, you get it for lower price.

We are planning a follow up on the earlier petition letter sent of to IBM and we now as well need the entire communities help! To really make our self heard we need your help to collect contact persons at different magazines and newspapers.
So please help out by submitting your favourite computer magazine, e-zine, newspaper or any media that you think should be added to our list of press worldwide.
And also, even if you think that there will be lots of other people submitting the same entries, please submit your own suggestion - I would rather have 10 entries of the same than missing some media - I can always sort out duplicates.
Please use following form to submit media contacts
Sincerely Yours, Kim Haverblad

NewsForge has published an article about OS2 with focus on the open source projects going on within the OS2 community by Bruce Byfield.
After a decade of neglect and increasingly reluctant support from IBM, the manufacturer, the OS/2 community persists. Where users of GNU/Linux or FreeBSD have turned to free and open source software (FOSS) for political and philosophical freedom and software quality, the surviving OS/2 community has been turning to FOSS as a means of defending members' right to use the operating system of their choice. The result is a small but surprisingly diverse collection of projects that, to a GNU/Linux user, is a mixture of the familiar and exotic.

ACPI for eComStation is updated:
- Using the latest source from Intel
- Expand support embedded controller
- added some code for C1/C2/C3 state
- added some code for CPU perfomance state
The ACPI driver is a part of future eComStation 2.0. It is available for eComStation subscibers today. Login to beta-zone via mensys.nl
USB drivers are available at www.ecomstation.com
IBM has updated USB drivers for us (USB basic drivers, USB Keyboard and USB Mass Storage Device drivers dated 12-21-2005).
Notes:
In the usb10162.zip zipfile a new USBD.SYS is included. This version might solve some problems with some MSD devices that don't even show up on the USB bus under OS/2,
The ZIP file usbs10162.zip contains a new USBMSD.ADD
There are 2 new switches:
/CHS Driver calculates and adds Cylinder/Heads/Sectors values to
device geometry. This key helps to support USB drives
with capacity more than 40GB for systems with os2dasd driver
without 512GB support and for non-lvm systems.
This might also be interesting for people who have difficult with partition table errors (minilvm). Thats just a gues on my side, its worth a try.
/MS10_OFF Driver avoids of using ModeSense10 command for geometry detection.
Sometimes people received traps in OS2DASD. This might prevent that.

The long awaited eComStation democd has been released some weeks ago.
You can grab it at http://www.ecomstation.com/democd
See website for details. An official press lease will follow later. If you do not want to download it you can also purchase a CD.
Russian demo-CD is available too! The demo CD will also be published in more languages.
Feedback from users:
- It's great, I missed my old OS/2 sooo much!
- Just downloaded the demo CD to try for myself before lending it out. Works well (so far) on an HP Pavilion ZD7000. Thanks
- Even configured dsl automatically. Not surprisingly, it looks a lot like OS/2
- It picked up the NIC automatically. I haven't played with it much, but it looks Great so far!
- Visually it is a wast improvement compared to Warp3, the last OS/2 release I've regularly used, years ago. Thanks for providing this interesting demo of what it's like today!
- I am trying the Demo CD on my daughter's Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop PC, after seeing it yesterday on an IBM Thinkpad T42 at the monthly SCOUG (So Cal OS/2 Users' Group) meeting. With no fanfare or problems, the machine booted right up, played the Flash presentation with sound, showed a clear screen, and connected to the Internet. I plan to make a few copies of the Demo CD to hand to my Windows using friends. Maybe it will open their eyes to other possibilities!
- The demo CD works with my GeForce5900XT, well done! I'm seriously debating getting the full release! Thanks again!
- This is surprisingly good for a less known operating system.
- Absolutely awesome! Runs like hell on my ThinkPad T22 - now the only thing I need are drivers for my WLAN-Card (Netgear WG511T) ;-) Seriously it's good to see that OS/2 is still alive and kicking and I'm seriously thinking about getting myself eComStation 1.2 (German) now :-)
- Very smooth install, I love it! I will be making copies and handing them out!
- Not a bad effort. Booted off the CD and I was presented with the ESC desktop. ECS detected my DHCP server without and problems [reltek 8139 nic], alas Firefox locks the computer as tight as a drum. CAD to reboot. I have a USB mouse that worked OK, Sound OK [SB live] Nivdia FX5900 Ultra, Nforce2 chipset, 1.5gig RAM I'm going to try it on some Sony VAIO laptops. I service Sony VAIO laptops for Sony under warranty so I have access to the latest hardware to try it on.Not a bad effort. Booted off the CD and I was presented with the ESC desktop.
