Quatech SSU-100 USB Serial Adapter

1 port USB to RS-232 serial adapter.

I am using the Quatech SSU-100 successfully. It is kind of "hot-plug" (ie if the driver is installed without the adapter being connected at bootup, it does not matter and you can always plug it in later) and is really recognized as a serial port. You can even use this serial port through VPC (or surely SVista) : I can use my digital camera's Windows software through VPC on eCS using the adapter.

Bob, 2009/03: I found Quatech SSU-100 RS-232, 1 port USB adapter on eBay and purchased 2 of them. These items seem to be as scarce as hen's teeth. They work with the usbqser.sys driver that come with eCS 2.0 RC6a. Note: the newer SSU2-100 models will NOT WORK!
