Serenity Systems' eComStation was the winner of OS/2 World's 2003 "Best Commercial Software of the Year" award.

Serenity Systems recognizes some serious challenges facing OS/2 users and has been working with other ISVs to deliver solutions in these areas. In line with this, Serenity is planning two significant announcements for eComStation and OS/2 users which will be previewed at Warpstock. More information on these projects will appear in the Warpstock elective session information in the next several weeks.

eComStation 1.1 provides users with a low cost package which includes the most up to date distribution of IBM OS/2 4.52. Serenity Systems has a track record of delivering product enhancements through its web site. Now, it has released a significant update which existing OS/2 and eComStation users are sure to enjoy, and new users will find to be friendly, easy to install and to use, with the industry's most powerful UI, delivering leading price performance, reliability, stability, and scalability.

SCOUG Meeting May 17: eCS 1.1

2003-05-16 19:11:39 -- Eugene Gorbunoff [VOICENWS, Gary Wong]

The next meeting of the Southern California OS/2 User Group (SCOUG) will be this Saturday, May 17, 2003 at 9:15 AM PDT, at the Fullerton Public Library, 353 W. Commonwealth Ave., in meeting room B.

eCS at SCOUG -- Version 1.1 At Last!

As Bob St. John, Director of Business Development at Serenity Systems tells us, the release of eComStation 1.1 Entry is the biggest OS/2 news so far this year.

It's certainly been long anticipated by the OS/2 community. Some key enhancements involve changes to the user interface. And for the first time, the power of CID is made available to every user. However, major applications that were free with the first version are now an add-on pack and priced separately. You owe it to yourself to find out, first- hand, just what all this means for you.

You can see eComStation 1.1 on May 17th at SCOUG. We are assured it will be the officially released version and that copies will be available for purchase at the meeting. Long-time SCOUG member Kim Cheung, Serenity's Executive Director, will be on hand to show it off and answer all of your questions. Guaranteed to generate controversy, this is a golden opportunity to observe first-hand and decide for yourself.

As always, there will be free coffee, donuts, and help with your OS/2 problems, too.

The Programming SIG is taking a short break this month. It will return in June to work on their "success for open source" project.

TAKE NOTE: SCOUG's June meeting will be on the second Saturday of the month (June 14th).

Help Desk chats are on Wednesday evenings at 7 PM PDT. If you've got a problem with hardware or software, join the chat and ask for help.

OS/2 Help Desk and Networking SIG, June 1st, 2003, 2 PM PDT, Chapman University in Orange:

At the live OS/2 Help Desk, volunteers will give you hands-on assistance solving your hardware and software problems. It is generally held the first Sunday of the month at Chapman University in the city of Orange (east of I-5 and north of the 22 freeway) in cooperation with the OS/2 SIG of the North Orange County Computer Club.

Come to Hashinger Hall Science Building, room 203. There is an elevator to bring up your equipment. Bring your system and all related hardware and software, along with a detailed explanation of your problem.

The Networking SIG normally meets at the same time and place as the live OS/2 Help Desk, but it's still on hiatus. We hope to have it back in June.

How to get to the Fullerton Public Library:

From the 91 freeway, exit Harbor Blvd. heading north. Turn left at Amerige Ave. The library is 2 1/2 blocks down on your left-hand side; the main entrance is actually on Amerige 1/2 block west of Highland Ave.

From the 57 freeway, exit Chapman Ave (near Cal State Fullerton) heading west. After you pass Harbor Blvd., go 2 more blocks and turn left on Highland Ave. Go 3 short blocks south on Highland Ave. and turn right on Amerige Ave.; the library is 1/2 block down on your left.

Visit us, there is a link to Yahoo! Maps with a map to the Fullerton Public Library.

How to get to Chapman University:

There are two ways to get directions:

  1. Go to www.scoug.com
  2. Go to www.mapquest.com and enter the address 400 N. Center Street, Orange, CA.

You can park in any of the University lots for free on Sundays, but if you part on the street, watch the signs carefully or else risk getting a parking ticket.
